DERBYSHIRE: Gritters ready as more snow is predicted
Gritters will be getting ready to deal with any worsening weather.
DERBYSHIRE County Council has told how it is continuing to monitor weather forecasts which have predicted more snow on Friday, January 18, and Saturday, January 19, with its gritters on alert to ensure the region’s roads remain as clear as possible.
As stubborn sub-zero temperatures have maintained a grip across the region since the first downfall on Monday, January 14, the Met Office has warned of snowfall over the next few days with temperatures falling as low as minus four degrees centigrade.
A council spokesman said the council believes there is currently enough grit on the roads after gritters were operating earlier in the week and there may be plans for further gritting at 4am, tomorrow, Friday, January 18.
But the council explained that the situation will be closely monitored and if it is necessary gritters will be able to move sooner.
