DERBYSHIRE: Free bulb giveaway and blanket testing

Derbyshire County Council will be giving away 5,000 sensor bulbs as part of a safety campaign.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue will also be offer free electric blanket testing across Derbyshire as part of the ‘Get switched on to safety’ scheme.

Sensor bulbs are being given out through hospital discharge teams, home care workers, volunteer centres, community safety partnerships and the Handy Van scheme to those who are vulnerable and housebound.

They will also be available at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service electric blanket testing days, where free fleece toppers will be issued to anyone over 60 or registered disabled if their own blanket fails an electrical safety test on the following days:

Blanket testing days are taking place at Chesterfield Fire Station on 11 February, 9:30am - 5pm, Long Eaton Fire Station on 13 February, 9:30am - 5pm and Swadlincote Fire Station 15 February, 9:30am - 5pm.

Bulbs will be given out in libraries across Derbyshire, with police and fire service staff on hand to give advice and information.
