DERBYSHIRE: Foce to change uniform

editorial image

Derbyshire Constabulary is changing the uniform worn by public-facing officers from next Monday.

After consultation with staff, new-style shirts are being introduced across the county as they are the most practical shirts to suit today’s policing needs.

The new shirt will be worn by all uniformed operational police officers and uniformed police staff within Derbyshire Constabulary. Police officers will wear black shirts and police staff will wear blue.

A small number of police officers will still wear white shirts and black ties because of the role they perform.

As well as the improved practicality of the new shirts, the change brings Derbyshire Constabulary in line with other forces, including those in the East Midlands. This will provide the force with the opportunity to buy uniform jointly with other constabularies.

A further benefit is that the introduction of the shirts will give the force a cost saving of around £3,000 each year when compared with the current costs.
