Dancing dogs take the lead
Man's best friend is all set to collar a new tail-wagging talent – line dancing.
It might sound like a shaggy dog story, but it's true.
A new club opening next month is taking the lead in teaching pooches – and their owners – a spot of chore-dography.
Learning line-dancing is just one of the training opportunities on offer at the new Canine Leaning Centre, set to open at the 2nd Swanwick Centenary Centre in Chapel Street on Sunday evening, February 3.
Trainer Chris Sherwood, who has already earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the most line-dancing dogs, is keen to encourage Alfreton-area pets to toe the line – and if enough take part, she hopes to stage a demonstration of the canine capers at this year's Party in the Park at Alfreton.
She said: "It's all done to music, It's just a question of getting the dogs to sit, stay and walk to heel."
Chris, who has 20 years' training experience and ran a similar club down south for five years before moving to live in Alfreton, will be offering a wide range of fun-training sessions up to Kennel Club Good Citizen levels at the Swanwick club.
Separate classes will be held for puppies up to six months, intermediate and advanced dogs, and booking is essential as places are limited.
