Creative pupils back campaign

Creative children had their artwork judged by Matlock's top artists – as part of a poster painting campaign to raise funds for charity.

Over 700 youngsters entered Matlock Primary Schools Poster Competition and Pollyanna Pickering and Geoff Kersey had the difficult task of choosing the winners.

The children from schools in Matlock, Bonsall, South Darley, Crich, Winster, Cromford, Brassington and Tansley have produced posters celebrating the Thanks for Life Rotary scheme aimed at the eradication of polio.

The paintings will be on show at Matlock Imperial Rooms on Saturday, February 27, between 10am and 4pm as part of Rotary Campaign Week and prizes will be awarded to the winners at 2pm.

Matlock Rotary president Albert Ripamonti said: "We hope that as many people as possible as well as parents and family come to take a look at some very good and imaginative paintings."
