Council gives community groups a helping hand
Village halls in Tansley and Milton are just two of the causes due to get a share of £1million of grant funding.
Derbyshire County Council has been awarding groups and clubs across the county Community Building Grants of between £10,000 and £250,000.
Tansley Village Hall has been awarded £24,908 to complete structural restoration work and Milton Village Hall was given £19,834 to refurbish and extend the facility.
Hope Sports Club was also awarded £92,840 to replace its existing pavilion with a new community facility and Eyam Sports Association was given £28,418 to develop its multi–use games area.
Council leader Cllr Andrew Lewer said: “Community Building Grants are designed to strengthen our commitment to supporting community self-help action where local people are doing their bit to build better communities.”
