Could you run NHS?
Nominations have opened for the first Council of Governors to oversee the work of community NHS care across Derbyshire.
It is the latest step along the way for Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust towards becoming a Foundation Trust.
Until January 10, members of the public can put themselves forward in elections to the new Council of Governors, to represent the voice of local people in steering community health services forward.
Tracy Allen, Chief Executive of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust, said: “We look forward to having a Council of Governors from all walks of life and with all the variety of experience and knowledge they can bring to the role. We are absolutely committed to involving people in this way in taking our services forward and being accountable.”
Governors need no specific qualifications as training is given. The only requirements are: a keen interest in health care; time to attend meetings, events and training; a willingness to work with others, and a desire to learn more about community health services.
Nominations close on January 10. Ballot papers will be distributed to members on February 1. Completed ballot papers must be received by February 26.
