The offender struck at a home in Holme Hall, about 12.20pm, on Wednesday, January 25, and was spotted by a passer-by struggling with the bikes near the Holme Hall Inn.

A police spokesman said: “The two mountain bikes were stolen from the kitchen of a home in broad daylight after someone had smashed their way into the property.”

The offender was described as white, 5ft 4ins tall, wearing a dark-coloured jacket and he was spotted running with the two stolen, white-coloured mountain bikes.

Witnesses and anyone with information are urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
