A MAJOR developer is considering residents’ views and any concerns about its plans to build 350 new homes and other facilities in Bolsover.
Heyford Developments Ltd hopes to build a residential mixed-use site between Langwith Road, Mooracre Lane and Rotherham Road on the east side of the town and rolled out its plans at a public consultation meeting last Monday.
The development will provide approximately 350 new homes with areas of public open space, equipped play areas and scope for employment generating opportunities such as a children’s day nursery, a care home and light industrial and office units.
A Heyford Developments spokesman said: “Heyford Developments Ltd is working with officers at Bolsover District Council to ensure this development is of long-term benefit to the people of Bolsover.”
Plans include a mix of two. three, four and five bedroom homes, a tree-lined mews and a rural edge with semi-detached houses.
Developers claim the plan fits with the council’s official Vision for Bolsover Town plans which hopes to provide access to wider residential areas and jobs by 2031.
In 2010, the council identified the site in its Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment as suitable to deliver approximately 432 homes, according to Heyford, and that the authority has since suggested that an element of employment development might also be provided to create a mixed-use scheme.
A Heyford spokesman added: “At Heyford Developments Ltd we pride ourselves on creating sustainable and high quality schemes.”
Heyford claims the area has been identified in the emerging council Core Strategy as capable of accommodating growth to the east of Bolsover.
The public consultation meeting during last Monday afternoon and evening at Bolsover Assembly Hall, on Hill Top, was well attended and visitors were given a chance to complete and return feedback forms.

A planning application is expected to be submitted in April with a council decision expected by September and if it gets the go-ahead work could begin by Autumn 2014.
