Licensees in Bolsover and North East Derbyshire are being offered advice on how to avoid selling alcohol to under 18s and people who have drunk too much alcohol.

They are being invited to a free seminar at Chesterfield Proact Stadium on Wednesday, 28th November.

The event, funded by the Bolsover and North East Derbyshire Community Safety Partnerships, has been set up to offer guidance on legislation and provide advice from local agencies.

There will be presentations and information from Derbyshire police, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire Alcohol Advice Service, Derbyshire Trading Standards and Council licensing departments.

Inspector Glyn Jones of the police licensing team at Chesterfield said: “This is an opportunity for licence holders and committees to access free training and demonstrate that they are responsible operators.

“The information on offer will help local licensees to run their businesses legally and safely, which will also help to target community issues such as underage drinking and alcohol related anti-social behaviour.”

It is being coordinated by the Violence, Alcohol Harm and Licensing (VAL) group, which consists of six Responsible Authorities, including Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, County and District councils.

The group meets and works alongside other local agencies to promote responsible alcohol retail through a combination of advice, support and enforcement.

Invitations have been sent to all pubs, clubs and off licences in the districts of Bolsover and North East Derbyshire.

For further information or to reserve a place contact the police licensing team at Chesterfield on 0300 122 8517.
