Blackwell

GUILD: The Wesley Guild of Blackwell Methodist Church met on Wednesday. Films showing a flower festival and well dressings at Ashford-in-the Water were shown by Graham Peake of Newton. Sandra Bennett presided and readings were given by Joyce Peake. Margaret Iball was pianist.

COFFEE: A sum of 591 was raised for church funds when members and friends of Blackwell Methodist Church organised a coffee morning on Saturday in Blackwell Community Centre.

Stalls and competitions were organised.

Prize-winners were: raffle - Joyce Harvey, Steven Bunning, Brian Bennett, Hilda Needham, Ray Wood, Margaret Cassidy, Nelly Maloney, Joan Fawcett, David Purdy, Ivan Pope, Ben Clark, Graham Peake, Amy Bunning, Hilary Patrick and Vera Purdy; names - Rev Diane Hare, Philip Slater and June Parker; treasure hunt - Godfrey Patrick.

SALE: A nearly new sale held by Blackwell Residents' Action Group took place in Blackwell Community Centre. A total of 260 was raised which will go towards Residents' Group funds and the A Winning Mining Monument.
