Bolsover and District Cycling Club will be hosting a free Olympic-themed bike racing for under 16s.
The Go-Ride Games event to introduce youngsters to the sport of cycling. Children can turn up and take part in the B&DCC Go-Ride Games which have been coordinated by British Cycling and are set to take place at the Oxcroft Miners Welfare in Stanfree at noon on August 18.
As part of the B&DCC Go-Ride Games the riders will be provided with a series of coaching sessions, before having an action-packed programme of safe off road racing in the afternoon to put their new found skills to the test.
Steve Crapper, club secretary, is expecting a big turnout for the event.
He said: “Cycling has been amazingly successful over the last two weeks and the games have inspired kids to take up competitive sport. “our Go-Ride games is the ideal legacy to help build on the enthusiasm and give these kids a taste of competition. Several of our recent medallists discovered their cycling talent in this way.”.
“All young newcomers are welcome to the club event and we look forward to giving as many people a taste of cycling as possible.”
There will be prizes and giveaways on offer so if you’re under 16 and interested, just bring a bike and a helmet to the venue for noon and get signed up.
