LETTER: Snow woes as many didn’t see gritters

Parts of Derbyshire were left white-over after snow hit on Boxing Day.
Parts of Derbyshire were left white-over after snow hit on Boxing Day.

I would like to express my concerns about the non-action of the council regarding the snow that fell on Boxing Day.

I had read on the council’s Facebook page that it was the public’s fault as there was a lack of cars to dissolve the snow and that grit was not the answer.

Many people I have spoken with did not see any snow ploughs / gritters.

I work in Sheffield and on Monday, December 29, the roads, both major and minor, were clear as the Sheffield council had acted. However roads in Chesterfield did not clear until the rain on January 1.

Under the Freedom of Information would the Derbyshire Times ask for information regarding what action was taken by the council?

You may have received numerous comments from other people as I am aware that many people are angry with the none action by the council.

I. Barker, by email.
