ALFRETON pulled out all the stops on Saturday at a patriotic Poppy Party to mark 90 years of The Royal British Legion. The celebration featured clowns, bands, dancers, buskers, fairground rides and stalls for worthy causes. Pupils from local schools made giant poppies for the event. Alfreton Park Community Special School’s ‘Let’s Raise the Roof’ campaign stall at the event was staffed by students dressed as Land Army girls and raised just over £250.
The Royal British Legion was represented by the Alfreton and Riders branches.
County rep of the Riders branch Dean Fowler said: “Thanks to the generosity of local people we raised £370 and sold £200 of merchandise.”
