Teenage pop favourites Lawson and Union J are set to perform at a new festival to be held at the home of the Spireites.
This summer’s Party at the Proact – on Sunday, June 8 – will feature the boybands, along with a number of top acts to be revealed.
Tickets are now on sale for the hotly-anticipated event, which comes a day after Welsh legend Tom Jones takes to the stage at the Proact Stadium.
Chesterfield chairman Dave Allen commented: “It was my vision to put on a second concert to appeal to a younger audience the day after the TomJones concert. I am delighted that we have been able to attract a number of exciting acts to the Proact. It promises to be an unforgettable weekend!”
Lawson, featuring Chesterfield’s Ryan Fletcher on bass guitar, have enjoyed chart success with ‘When She Was Mine’, ‘Taking Over Me’, ‘Standing in the Dark’ and ‘Learn to Love Again’. They have had five top five hits and a top ten debut album.
Union J have taken the British boy band scene by storm, attracting millions of fans. With a debut studio album and UK headline tour in 2013, the boys are already working on their second album.
The other acts appearing will be announced shortly, and club bosses said they anticipate great demand for the event, following on from the fantastic response to the Tom Jones concert.
Promoter Liz Doogan Hobbs MBE from Liz Hobbs Group said: “We love the approach being taken by the club. They are working with us to ensure the band selection process is right and we just can´t wait to start the concert load in. Tom Jones tickets are flying out and a more pop biased day is a great addition.”
