Labour wins Brimington by-election

Labour candidate Tricia Gilby has won the Brimington by-election.

Ms Gilby will represent the division on Derbyshire County Council after getting 1,293 votes in yesterday’s by-election which was triggered following the death of Labour Councillor Walter Burrows last October.

Paul Christopher Stone, for UKIP, came second with 380 votes; Mick Bagshaw, independent, came third with 157 votes; John Edward Ahern, for the Liberal Democrat party, came fourth with 135 votes and Lewis Mark Preston, for the Conservative part, came fifth with 120 votes.
