Intrepid trio’s 192-mile trek

Buxton’s Tracey Wright, daughter Natasha Johns and mum Christine Aldington, of Sparrowpit, are walking the 192-mile Coast to Coast route from St Bee’s in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire.

Setting off on Saturday April 12, the intrepid trio will complete the walk in 13 days, covering between ten and 24 miles each day.

And their efforts will raise money for two good causes with Natasha supporting Buxton Community School PTA while Christine is raising money for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary by raising £50,000 for a new control vehicle.

Tracey said: “Myself and my mum walked the Pennine Way eight years ago and Natasha has always wanted to do a long-distance walk but she wasn’t old enough.

“Then last summer we sat down and said we would do one this year. The Pennine Way is too long so we chose the Coast to Coast.

“I’m feeling excited but apprehensive. I’m looking forward to it as it’ll be nice to spend some quality time together.

“Me and my mum get on really well so it’ll be nice for Natasha to come along as well.”

She added: “We’ve been training since Christmas, me and my mum have been out most weekends and some week days to try and get some in.”
