Inqest opens after pensioner is found dead in reservoir

An inquest has been opened into the death of a pensioner who was found in Ogston Reservoir.

A member of the public alerted police after finding Samuel Sutton, 73, of Bestwood Park, Clay Cross, floating in the reservoir, near Clay Cross, on the afternoon of Saturday, May 10.

Speaking at Chesterfield coroners’ court this afternoon, coroner James Newman said: “We’re still waiting to hear the results from the post-mortem.”

Police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances.

Mr Sutton’s inquest was adjourned to a later date.
