Townswomen’s Guild members had a royal appointment with their patron, Princess Anne.
A large group of Chesterfield members attended the conference in Newark, where the morning’s theme was Votes For Women.
During the afternoon, four guild members talked about their images of Women of Vision, which included Chesterfield representative Maggie Chilton on Bess of Hardwick.
Ninety delegates at the conference were given the opportunity to meet and talk with the Princess Royal who is patron of the guild.
At a previous gathering in the Winding Wheel, members of the Chesterifeld and District Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds hosted the annual lunch.
The speaker was Dulcie Lewis who gave an amusing talk on lavatories past and present, entitled Down the Pan.
Guild members have a busy few weeks coming up with a Summer Event on July 15 which will include an arts and crafts competition, musical entertainment by the choir and afternoon tea. There will also be garden parties, fashion shows, outings and tea parties.
