Three Ilkeston Scouts have been celebrating after taking home gold awards at the recent International Scout Camp event.
Millie Roberts, Matthew Jackson and Harvey Payne, of 10th Ilkeston (Stanley Common All Saints) Scout group were awarded the accolade at the ceremony held at Chatsworth Park.
Every five years the Duke of Devonshire kindly hosts an international Scout and Guide Camp on the Chatsworth estate. This year some 5,000 Scouts and Guides from all over the world gathered at Chatsworth for a week of fun, games, entertainment and just getting to know young people from other cultures.
David MacAllister, assistant county commissioner for Scouts presented the youngsters with the award. The gold award represents the culmination of a series of challenges which Scouts need to meet in order to achieve a high standard.
Harvey Payne said of Peak 2015, said: “Peak was the most amazing experience of my life so far.
“The activities were awesome and kept us all challenged and entertained.
“It taught me skills only they could teach me and I met the most interesting people there.”
