Housing boss makes plumbing switch

Executive director Paul Parkinson left the comfort of his office to get stuck into plumbing work at Eagreaves Community Centre, in 
Loscoe under the watchful eye of apprentice plumber Liam Jenkins.

The two then returned to Futures Homescape’s Ripley offices where Liam was able to gain an insight into Paul’s day-to-day work.

The event was arranged to coincide with what was the first day of National Apprenticeship Week in recognition of Futures Homescape’s commitment to investing in 
apprenticeships.

Following his crash course in plumbing Executive director Paul said: “It was great to see a completely different 
aspect of the work we do and the immensely important role that apprentices play in our organisation.

“Investing in young people in the area is a key priority to us and we take our responsibility to do so very seriously.

“Liam is a great example of the potential which exists right across the borough and it is so important that organisations tap into this. This not only allows us to play our part in investing in the local area.”
