CHESTERFIELD Royal Hospital has been forced to close all its adult patient wards to visitors for the second time in two months after a further outbreak of the vomiting Norovirus bug.

The hospital, at Calow, made the decision to close its adult patient wards this morning, Monday, March 12, after eight wards have become affected by the highly contagious virus.

A hospital spokesman said: “Visitors with Norovirus symptoms have continued to come into the hospital despite all our efforts and communications to stop them.”

Anyone with vomiting symptoms who suspects they may have developed the Norovirus are urged to call their GPs or call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for advice and to keep away from the hospital and doctors’ surgeries.
