HEALTH chiefs have quashed speculation that a Chesterfield hospital is to close.

Concerned readers have contacted the Derbyshire Times worried that Walton Hospital will shut.

But Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trsut, which runs Walton Hospital, has confirmed the facility is not at risk.

William Jones, director of service delivery at the trust, said: “Walton Hospital will continue to be a base for patient care in Chesterfield in the future.

“We are very clear that it will continue to offer healthcare services to reflect local needs and to ensure we meet the challenges in the wider Chesterfield area of caring for an increasingly older population.”

He added the trust was “fully committed” to improving patient care and delivering services.
