CHESTERFIELD Royal Hospital has closed two wards to visitors after the third outbreak of the Norovirus winter bug in three months.
The hospital, at Calow, has today announced the closure of Ashover and Pearson wards following the discovery of the bug among patients and staff.
A hospital spokesman said: “With immediate effect Ashover and Pearson wards have both been closed to visitors due to confirmed Norovirus cases amongst patients and staff.”
The hospital was forced to close patient wards to visitors in March and February after previous outbreaks of the bug which involves vomiting and diarrhoea.
People with suspected symptoms are urged to keep away from the hospital and call NHS Direct on 0845 4647 for advice instead of risking exposing others at the hospital and their GP surgeries.
