BURGLARS who broke into sheds and garages at properties in the Hope Valley made off with items including chainsaws and mountain bikes.

A shed at a house in Steward Gate, Bamford, was broken into between 4pm on April 2 and 10.30am on April 3.

The offenders stole a red Marin Hawkhill SE2008 mountain bike and a Jonserad C2137 chainsaw.

In a separate incident, a garage was broken into in Sheffield Road, Hathersage, between 8.40am on April 3 and 5.40pm later the same day.

A blue Trek racing bike and a chainsaw were stolen from inside.

PCSO Anthony Boswell, from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team, said he was keen for people to boost the security of their home.

He added: “People can buy shed and garage alarms, motion-sensitive security lights and other crime prevention items which help greatly.”
