COUNCIL chiefs are looking for people to get involved in opening up Derbyshire’s countryside.

The county council is recruiting new members for the Derby and Derbyshire Local Access Forum.

The forum was set up nine years ago and advises how best to use paths and trails across to improve access to Derbyshire’s countryside.

Derbyshire County Council leader Cllr Andrew Lewer said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in helping us improve access to Derbyshire’s beautiful countryside for all to enjoy.”

The forum meets four times a year in Derby and across the county alternately.

The work is voluntary with expenses paid and membership lasts up to three years.

Applications are invited from anyone with an interest in the outdoors.

For more information telephone 01629 533302 or download information from www.derbyshire.gov.uk/countryside.

If you would like to join the forum then write to Derby and Derbyshire Local Access Forum, Derbyshire County Council, Shand House, Dale Road South, Matlock, DE4 3RY, explaining your interests, experience and what you feel you can contribute to.

The closing date for applications is Thursday, September 20.
