Donate your old glasses to Africa
An optician is collecting old, unwanted glasses to donate to those living in areas where eyecare is not readily available.
So far, Specsavers in Chesterfield has collected more than 2,600 pairs of glasses, but are still after more.
The frames are recycled by Vision Aid Overseas, and the money is used to support its work in developing countries. Local customers can drop into the store on Burlington Street and leave their unwanted specs in the special collection bins to help further the cause.
Vicki Bainbridge, store director, said: ‘We’re absolutely thrilled with the continuing support we’ve had from the local community. To collect more than 2,600 pair of glasses this year already is a fantastic achievement, but we’re sure there must be more out there.”
