Gym users will benefit from new state-of-the-art fitness equipment in Chesterfield Borough Council owned gyms.

New equipment will be in place replacing the 150 stations currently available at the Healthy Living Centre in Staveley with the latest approach of combining cardio, strength and functional fitness equipment.

The work will be carried out before Christmas. New equipment will also be in place at the new Queen’s Park Sports Centre when it opens early next year.

The size of the new fitness suite will be more than double that in the current Queen’s Park Centre with over 80 stations compared to its current 40 stations.

Accessibility to equipment for people with disabilities will also be improved.

The council will carry out a consultation to help inform the final mix of equipment to be supplied. Details of the consultation will be announced shortly.
