Fr Malcolm Ainscough, Rector of Hasland, celebrated the Mass at St Paul’s Church, Hasland, on Mothering Sunday morning. The children and young people presented a sketch based on the Gospel for the day, the story of the return of the Prodigal Son, but this was a sketch with a twist, as it showed the story of the Prodigal Daughter returning to her mother. Those taking part in the sketch were Sarah Musk, Lauren Ward, Sally Ann Mather, Rhian Ainscough, Helena Bond, Alexia Arnold, Bethany and Libby Gillatt, Isobel and Caitlin Pook and Ruby Revell. The lessons were read by Lauren Ward and Alison Watts. During the service Fr Malcolm with the aid of the children, distributed Mothering Sunday cards to all the ladies in church. After the service the congregation enjoyed coffee served by Alison and Ian Basford, and traditional simnel cake, baked by Ruth Bailey.
