During the period of Lent a ‘Lent Course’ was held on Friday mornings at the home of Rev Andrew Checkley, Minister of Hasland Methodist Church. He led eight regular attendees through a course by Paula Gooder, looking at five different spiritual essentials. The group shared opinions and discussions on the weekly topics. At each Sunday service throughout the five weeks of Lent, the church stewards and members of the Junior Church made different crosses, giving an explanation of the meaning of each cross. The crosses were displayed in church, with the wooden cross, during the Easter day celebrations. Easter Sunday services started at 8am with a Communion service led by Rev Andrew Checkley. After the service an Easter breakfast was prepared and served by Sandria Mather and Val Gratton.

Then followed the morning Communion service, when members of the congregation were given a cross and daffodil on arrival, and were then invited during the service, to go to the front of the church and place their daffodils at the foot of the cross. The service was led by Rev Andrew Checkley, and the celebration hymns were accompanied by organist Clive Ellis. At the closing of the service the children of the Junior Church were presented with a Traidcraft ‘ Real Easter egg’ with the message of Easter inside the box.
