Customers and their families and friends at Anchor’s Heather Vale Care Home on Heather Vale Road, Hasland, were invited to dine at the home for a different way to spend the evening.
On offer was tomato and basil soup, with cheese scone, grilled sirloin steak, chips, peas and creamy mushroom sauce. This was followed by apple pie and cream or trifle, and the meal was served with a glass of wine, and followed by tea or coffee and mints. The meal was cooked in-house by Heather Vale’s catering staff, and served by other members of staff.
Customers made the floral table arrangements the previous day, with the help of house-keepers. An enjoyable evening was had by all 28 people who dined. Comments were made about the standard of good food, how much they had enjoyed the experience, and thanks were given for all the hard work that had gone into making such an enjoyable night.
Church warden Barbara Marshall was thanked for organising the event, which raised over £690 for church funds.
Thanks also go to everyone who donated a raffle prize, and to David Lapping, caretaker at the Village Hall, who looked after the event so well.
