TALENTED pupils have brightened up their school corridors with wonderful eye-catching mural displays.

An Art Club was set up by Hasland Junior School teachers Michelle Goodwin and Dot Swinden to inspire pupils to express their own artistic and design skills.

The youngsters were inspired to boost their corridors after they visited the Moor Foot murals, in Sheffield, and Western Park Museum, and The Graves and Millennium Galleries and Gardens.

Melanie Simpson, a freelance artist from Sheffield, brought together all the elements of the children’s subsequent work to create the school’s new mural displays.

“It is brilliant seeing the work of the children interpreted by the artist so beautifully,” says headteacher John Stringer.

The mural has three sections and is on show in the reception hall at the Chesterfield school.
