Hannah Ryder, who attends Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School, had her 12-inch plait cut off so it can be made into a wig for a young child with cancer.

The year nine pupil said: “I wanted to do this as it must be really hard when not only are you battling cancer but you lose your hair too and you’re only young.”

Hannah’s hairdresser visited school to perform the haircut at lunchtime in front of friends and teachers.

The hair will go to the Little Princess Trust and be made into a wig.
