THOUGHTFUL siblings who swapped a chocolate hunt for a litter pick have been highlighted as good examples.

Catherine, Adam and Lucy Buckley gave up their traditional Easter egg search when visiting their grandparents in Eckington earlier this year.

Instead they suggested collecting rubbish from the village woods, filling several bin liners with discarded trash.

Grandad David Ridley nominated the green trio for our recycling royalty crown to win top prizes from Derbyshire County Council.

“The children are always telling us to turn lights and other things off”, said proud mum Amanda Buckley.

“It’s great, the right way to go and I’m better at it as a result.”

Top prizes on offer from the county council, which is always promoting recycling, include a chosen set of four recycled glasses, an energy efficient kettle and battery charger with rechargeable batteries plus a goodie bag on how to cut food waste. Entries have now closed.

Keep an eye out for the winner in the Derbyshire Times in the coming weeks.
