POLICE are appealing for information and reminding 4x4 owners to protect vehicles after thefts in Killamarsh and Glapwell.

The appeal follows the theft of two Land Rover Defenders stolen during the start of December.

Offenders struck between 6.45am and 8am, on December 7, off Field Lane, Killamarsh, and another vehicle was stolen around 4.20am, on December 18, at Rowthorne Lane, Glapwell.

Owners are advised to use garages if they have one and to review security or park in well lit areas. Drivers are also reminded to make sure that vehicles are locked and any valuables are removed.

Around 250 forensic based security marking kits were given out to 4x4 owners during a police action day at Chesterfield FC to prevent and reduce 4x4 thefts.

PC Niki Atkinson, Crime Reduction Officer for North East Derbyshire, said: “We still have a number of forensic security marking kits available.”

Anyone interested in kits or who has information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
