Five young people are gaining valuable skills by working as apprentices at a primary school.

Tupton Primary School is helping the teenagers get in to the world of work by offering training in teaching and business.

Headteacher Lynsey Hunter said: “Our school decided to offer apprenticeships as we felt that we could offer a high standard of training within our setting, and give young people another route into working in education.

“Age UK Training has supported the school in this new venture, taking care of all our recruitment needs, and providing advice and guidance to help get us started. We have been very impressed with the service Age UK has offered us, and how easy the whole process has been, and are delighted with the standard of the young people who have come to join our team. Although they have only been with us a short time, they have already proved themselves to be valuable members of the staff team here at Tupton Primary School.
