Councillor Chris Ludlow, executive member for environment at Chesterfield Borough Council, said: “In the past year we have issued around 40 fixed penalty notices of £80 to dog owners who were allowing their dogs to foul the pavements or other public land. The council provides nearly 500 bins across the borough suitable for the disposal of bagged dog waste. We also spend a great deal of time educating the public about the nuisance, public health risks and cost to taypayers of dealing with dog mess across the borough.”
