Police are appealing for information after an elderly man was targeted by thieves yesterday.

The man, in his 80s, was sat on a bench in Barlow Road, Staveley, yesterday (Tuesday, April 1) at around 3.20pm when two women approached him.

They put their arms around him. They then started putting jewellery on him and asking him to buy it.

When he said ‘no’ they walked away, but then he noticed his money pouch was missing and all his money gone.

One of the women is described as being in her 20s with slim build, short dark hair and dark skin. She was wearing dark clothing.

The other woman was described as being in her 40s with a similar skin tone and wearing a long light-coloured coat.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101.
