A TEENAGE crash casualty has died after a collision between two vehicles near Ashover in the Peak District.

The collision happened on the A632 Matlock Road, near Ashover, between a blue, Vauxhall Corsa and a silver-coloured Peugeot 206 about 11.10pm, on Thursday, September 20.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “The blue Corsa was travelling along Matlock Road towards Chesterfield and was in collision with a silver-coloured Peugeot 206 which had been travelling along Birkin Lane on to Matlock Road.

“A 16 year-old male from the Peugeot was treated for serious injuries but later died.”

Police told how two remaining occupants in the Peugeot were taken by ambulance and police helicopter to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment including a male driver who had fractures and a male passenger who is in a critical condition with serious multiple injuries.

Police also confirmed there were two male occupants in the Corsa who were taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses and anyone who may have seen the vehicles before or during the collision are urged to call the police witness appeal line on (01773) 572929.
