COUNCILLORS considered new changes to the structure at Amber Valley Borough Council on Thursday, January 24, after former chief executive Peter Carney departed following Government advice for authorities to consider axing top posts to save money.
Amber Valley Borough Council subsequently got rid of its chief executive Peter Carney who worked for the authority for 27 years and earned £102,000.
A report about the management and organisation of the council follows the departure this month with a move for a joint team to take control.
The new structure will see the Executive Director of Finance Sylvia Delahay become the Director of Resources. The Executive Director of Environmental Services Julian Townsend will become the Director of Operations alongside his role as Head of Paid Service.
Cllr Stuart Bradford said: “The new structure, which will be implemented at no additional cost, reflects my recognition that we always had a strong executive to take the council forward to meet its priorities. The extensive knowledge and experience they have both accumulated will maintain future stability”.
In addition, John Grady, the previous Assistant Chief Executive will now become Director of Democratic Services together with his role as Returning Officer.
