Voting for the Amber Valley borough council seat in Swanwick – delayed after the sudden death of a candidate – will now take place later this month.

Residents had been due to go to polls on Thursday, May 22, when other voters in the third of wards up for election on Amber Valley were being contested and on the same day as the rest of the country was choosing its MEPs in the European elections.

But the death of Conservative candidate Patrica Watson meant the Swanwick election was put on hold.

The Tories now have another candidate. He is David Wilson, from Alfreton.

The other candidates are: Joel Hunt (LibDem), Allen King (UKIP), George Soudah (Ind) and Antony Tester (Lab).

Voting is on Thursday, June 26, from 7am until 10pm.

Polling Stations will be at The Old School House, 22 The Green, Swanwick (two
stations) and Swanwick School & Sports College, Hayes Lane, Swanwick.

The count will be held in theRipley Town Hall at the close of poll.

On May 22 Labour took control of the borough
council after 14 years of Tory rule by a narrow victory of 23 to 21 seats.
