The Shirland Parish Association held a meeting to finalise plans for the next event they are arranging for the residents of Shirland & Higham Parish and surrounding areas. These events are arranged to encourage ‘community spirit’ in a parish that is spread out over four villages and does not really have a centre like most parishes.
The event is a Festival of Light being held at Shirland Village Hall on Saturday, October 19, from 6pm till 9pm.
There is to be a lantern walk, competitions for ‘best guy’ and fancy dress, campfire singing around a tree of light, games, a performance by fire artist Crimson Black, hot food and drink, Wildlife Trust stall, sweets and home made biscuits stall etc., with a fireworks finale.
The lantern walk starts at 6.30pm, dress up warm and come along for a fun evening.
