Kyle Thompson, 21, of White Thorns Drive, Batemoor, Sheffield, arrives at court for sentencing after commiting exposure.

A FLASHER who exposed his private parts to a woman has been spared custody and placed under a sex offenders’ order to protect the public.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard, on Monday, how 21 year-old Kyle Thompson had been masturbating as he walked behind the Dronfield woman near Eckington Road, at Coal Aston, before she fled in her car.

Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said: “She looked over her shoulder and saw him masturbating. He was level with her left shoulder and it frightened her and she quickened up to get in her car and drove off and looked in her rear view mirror and saw him still masturbating.”

Thompson, of White Thorns Drive, Batemoor, Sheffield, admitted he had a problem and had caused distress during the incident in September and he pleaded guilty to exposure.

Denny Lau, defending, said Thompson, who has previous public order convictions, had an “issue” that caused him to commit the crime and it was not about a thrill but almost attention seeking. He added previous Derbyshire Times’ coverage had left Thompson feeling he has been punished because family and friends have disowned him.

Mr Lau said: “He knows he’s done wrong and he knows people will have seen the article in the Derbyshire Times.”

Thompson was sentenced to 16 weeks of custody suspended for two years, given a two year supervision order and placed under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for seven years.
