Police in Clowne have been visiting residents to give advice on staying safe following a number of burglaries in the area.
The Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team has been visiting homes in the area to advice on personal and home safety and security and give out free window alarms.
A total of seven homes in Clowne have been burgled since the start of November.
The most recent incidents took place between 9am and 10pm on Wednesday, December 12.
Two houses on Creswell Road were broken into and thieves stole three large televisions, cash, jewellery, computer and gaming equipment and other electrical items.
PCSO Suzanne Fox of the Clowne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “While enquiries are ongoing we have been visiting residents to speak to them about the recent burglaries and offer advice on crime prevention.
“We are encouraging people to always keep windows and doors locked, to store valuable items out of view and in a secure spot if possible. It is also worth leaving a light on and closing the curtains if you are going out of an evening to give the impression that someone is home.”
PCSO Fox added: “If anyone knows anything about these incidents, or if they notice any suspicious activity in the area, then please contact the police or call Crimestoppers.”
Officers are also looking to sign residents up to the Derbyshire Alert system, which is run by police and allows people to receive free messages about local crime and policing.
