YOUNGSTERS at 1st Highfield Scout Group have taken part in a special OzBox session with local police.

The boxing-based fitness programme, which combines circuit training and boxing skills, is designed to improve confidence, discipline and fitness. It also helps officers to build relationships with youngsters at the sessions.

Sessions took place for both cubs and scouts at St Andrew’s Church in Newbold on Friday, September 14.

Officers from the Newbold and Brockwell Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team and OzBox volunteers set up the sessions after a request from the scout leader.

PCSO Janis Naylor of the Newbold and Brockwell Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “It’s about the third year we have visited the group to deliver OzBox as the youngsters have enjoyed the sessions so much.”

OzBox sessions can be booked in four week blocks or one-off taster sessions. For more information please contact the OzBox team on (01246) 522304 or email ozbox@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk.
