A date has been set for the funeral of one of Wirksworth’s most loved characters.

Reg Dean’s funeral will be held in St Mary’s Church, Wirksworth, on Wednesday, January 23. The former minister for United Reformed churches in Matlock and Wirksworth passed away in his home in Waltham House on January 5 aged 110, having held the title of Britain’s oldest man.

His son Chris Dean said: “Everybody is welcome to his funeral. This is a public celebration of his life.”
