Derbyshire police have referred themselves to a watchdog over the death of a man who fell from a car park in Chesterfield.
The man, who has not yet been named, fell from the roof of New Beetwell Street car park yesterday (Monday, August 11).
Officers were called at around 10am after concerns for the safety of the man.
A police spokeswoman said they were talking to the man for several hours.
The man, who has not yet been named but is in his 50s and from Chesterfield, fell from the roof at 1.40pm.
A force spokeswoman said it had formally referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
She added: “We have asked them to investigate to make sure it was dealt with properly.”
