HUNDREDS of fake lotteries, get-rich-quick schemes and deceptive prize draws were reported during a week-long blitz on fraudsters.
Derbyshire County Council held its annual Scamnesty week in libraries during May – encouraging residents to hand in their scam letters, leaflets and flyers.
More than 200 scams were reported across the county during the crackdown, held in conjunction with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau.
Cllr Kevin Parkinson, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We’re grateful to people for supporting our Scamnesty campaign by dropping in their mail.
“It’s clear that many of us receive fake letters, fliers and emails on a daily basis.
“The suspect mail we’ve collected in Derbyshire will help our trading standards officers to identify potential new scams and provide them with vital information to investigate further.”
