Pantomime proposal!

sp94418 Pomegranate Panto Proposal, Ian Holmes with fiance Kelly and Dame Paul Morse.

OH yes I will! Was the answer when Ian Holmes proposed to his girlfriend Kelly Cotterill live on stage at the Pomegranate Theatre.

Ian, 30, who admitted he hadn’t been to the panto for 20 years, bought tickets for the production of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood as he thought it would be the perfect place to pop the question.

In cahoots with the panto dame he organised for himself and his bride-to-be Kelly to be brought onto the stage at end of the show where he got down on one knee and presented her with a diamond ring.

“I told her she would not expect it (when I proposed),” said Ian, a maintenance technician.

“At the end of the show they were going to do some songs before the bows and they said they needed some help on stage singing. The pantomime dame got me on stage and then fetched Kelly up.”

Kelly, 22, an administrator, admitted it was a ‘massive’ surprise.

“To be honest he was lucky I got up on stage!” She said,

“Words can not describe how I felt, I could not believe it!”

The happy couple, who have been together for four years, returned home to Gladstone Road, Chesterfield, where friends and family were waiting to throw a party.

Now they are enjoying their engagement before making any wedding plans.
