A Chesterfield man was attacked by a pal who found him at his girlfriend’s flat, magistrates heard.
Victim Sean Pattison told police he was walking along the road after visiting friends in Flamsteed Crescent, Newbold, when Amy Blair called to him from a balcony and invited him in.
They were chatting and he ordered a pizza. He was phoned at around midnight by her boyfriend, Nicholas Evans, who asked where he was.
Andrea Charity, prosecuting, said Evans told Mr Pattison to leave as he was on his way over there and would “kill” him.
“The complainant said he was going in a minute. The defendant then arrived and punched him in the face around six times,” said Mrs Charity.
He was kicked hard in the ribs as he “cowered” beside a sofa. He left and Evans followed and punched him four times more in the face and warned him to stay away.
Mr Pattison, who suffered cuts to his eyebrow and chin and a painful jaw, stated that he felt scared to leave his home alone following the attack.
He added: “I’m shocked. We have been good friends for years and I can’t believe he has done this to me.”
Evans, 22, of Springvale Road, Brimington, admitted the July 15 assault. He was cautioned by police for a similar offence nine years ago but had no previous convictions.
He was ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work and pay £400 compensation, with £85 costs, by Deputy District Judge Miller, who imposed a restraining order banning Evans from contacting his victim for two years.
“He is in a relationship with the young lady concerned. He says the complainant rang him and was gloating about what was going on,” said Jon Barber, for Evans.
He said Evans had been out of work after suffering an injury to his hand.
